Chocolate Cake Recipe | Renee Conner

Finally, I’ve had a chance to film my Chocolate Cake Recipe! I have used this recipe for years, and always get rave reviews! The Dutched Process cocoa powder gives it a deep, rich chocolatey flavor, it’s delicious!

2 Sticks (226g) Unsalted Butter (Softened)
2 Cups (400g) Granulated Sugar (Castor Sugar)
2 Cups (260g) All Purpose Flour
3/4 Cup (69g) Dutched Process Cocoa Powder (I like Hershey’s Special Dark!)
2 1/4 tsp (2g) Baking Powder
1/2 tsp (1g) Salt
3/4 Cup (177ml) Whole Milk (Hot, but not boiled)
1/4 Cup (59ml) Strong Brewed Coffee*
1 tsp (5ml) Vanilla Extract
4 Lrg Eggs (room temp)

*If you don’t want to use coffee in your recipe you can omit the coffee and use 1 Cup of Whole Milk instead of 3/4 Cup.

My preferred Buttercream:
*I used this recipe to ice the cake in the pictures, to make it chocolate I added 4 oz melted (yet cooled) bittersweet chocolate.
