Learn how to make a homemade funfetti birthday cake from scratch!
Items used in this funfetti cake recipe:
• 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• ½ teaspoon salt
• ½ cup butter
• 1 cup sugar
• 3 large egg whites
• ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 teaspoon almond extract
• ¼ cup milk
• 3 tablespoons plain yogurt or sour cream
• ¼ cup rainbow sprinkles (ie jimmies)

Preheat oven to 350F. In a medium sized bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix and set aside. In a separate bowl, combine milk and yogurt. Stir and set aside. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, whip butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg whites and extracts and continue to mix. Add half of the flour mixture and half of the milk mixture and slowly stir until combined. Add the rest of the flour and milk and stir until completely incorporated. Remove bowl from stand, and gently fold in the sprinkles. Divide into two six inch round baking pans and bake for 40-45 minutes.
Remove and allow to cool completely before icing.
