Salisbury Steak Recipe – How To Make Salisbury Steak And Onion Gravy. This is a non classic way to please those who love Salisbury Steak but dislike mushroom gravy. Homesteading is hard work, especially gardening, and sometimes cooking high calorie comfort food is the perfect remedy. Served with mashed or baked potatoes, and easy to cook, it is a family sized meal that will stick to your ribs.

For this recipe, you will need:

2 lbs lean hamburger
1 pkg dry onion soup mix
1 egg
2/3 cup dry bread crumbs

2 tbs butter
1 cup water
1 large onion
2 cans Cream of Onion soup

1 lg potato

Start potato baking. Combine the hamburger, soup mix, egg, and bread crumbs. Set aside. Brown the onions in the butter. Set aside. Divide the hamburger into 4 patties and fry until done through. Drain grease. Add Cream of Onion soup, water, and fried onions to pan. Cover and simmer for 20 min. Turn patties. Cover and simmer another 20 min. Plate the patties and cut potato into wedges. Wisk gravy remaining in pan. Pour gravy over steaks and potatoes. Serve hot.
