You know how mince dishes always taste better the next day once the mince has had a chance to absorb more of the flavour from the sauce? Well cooking mince in a slow cooker gives you that delicious, rich taste on day one, straight out of the pot.
Bolognese is a classic recipe that is often over-complicated by adding too many ingredients. This is a simple recipe, that just uses the basics to give it a delicious flavour – wine, smoked bacon and tomatoes. As always, if you don’t want to add in the booze, that’s fine, just use more stock although it won’t have the same depth of flavour.
Here’s How To Make Slow Cooker Spaghetti Bolognese
1. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and cook the bacon, onions and garlic for around 5 minutes.
2. Add the mince to the frying pan and brown, drain any excess fat.
3. Tip everything from the frying pan into the slow cooker and add all of the remaining ingredients.
4. Mix through, cover and cook on low for around 6 hours.
