Sweet And Sour Orange Pork Chops (Slow Cooker Recipe) Chinese Style Pork Chops

Orange Sweet And Sour Pork Chops

6 pork chops
4 tablespoons chopped ginger
3 tablespoons chopped garlic
1 stalked green onions chopped
6 to 9 tablespoons cooking oil
2 cups water
1 teaspoon sesame oil
2 tablespoons Chinese oyster sauce
2 tablespoons light soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon dark soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon orange zest
1 small orange (juice)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon vinegar
2 cups white onions
2 bay leaf
3 star anise
1 teaspoon Chinese 5 spice
3 tablespoons cornstarch mixed in 1/2 cup water

Cut pork chops into 2 to 3 pieces. Preheat a pan at medium heat. Add 3 tablespoons cooking oil, ginger and garlic. Add 1/2 the pork chops and grill 2 minutes on each side. Put the pork chops in slow cooker. Put 3 tablespoons cooking oil in pan. Grill remaining pork chops for 2 minutes each side and put into slow cooker.

Add water and all ingredients, except green onions, to the slow cooker. Grate the zest of the orange. Squeeze the juice of the orange. Set slow cooker at low heat setting. Cook pork chops for 4 to 6 hours at the low setting. In the last 1/2 hour, add cornstarch mixture to thicken sauce. Cover with lid to finish cooking. Just before serving, add green onions and mix in. Serve pork chops in a nice bowl.
