Ilish Begun – Popular Bengali Style Hilsa Fish Recipe With Brinjal – Begun Diye Ilish Macher Jhol

Here is another most popular Bengali Style Hilsa Fish Curry Ilish Begun. It is very delicious Ilish Macher Jhol. So let’s watch and try this popular Bengali Cuisine recipe at home.

Ingredients of Ilish Begun:
1. Ilish mach/ Hilsha fish (600gm).
2. Brinjal (1 big size).
3. Cumin powder (½ tsp).
4. Turmeric powder (1 tsp).
5. Red chilli powder (¼ tsp).
6. Green chilli paste (4 no).
7. Black cumin seeds (¼ tsp).
8. Wild celery paste (½ tsp seeds).
9. Salt (as per your taste).
10. Sugar (as per your taste).
11. Mustard oil.

Methods of how to cook Ilish Macher Jhol Begun Diye:
1. Marinate the Hilsa fish with ¼ tsp salt and ¼ tsp of turmeric powder. Keep it for 10 min.
2. Heat the pan and add mustard oil in it.
3. Fry the Ilish fish slightly. Keep aside.
4. Take 3 tbsp oil in pan.
5. Add ¼ tsp black cumin seeds in it. Fry for 10 sec.
6. Add sliced brinjal and fry for 1 min in medium flame.
7. Add 1 tsp turmeric powder, ½ tsp cumin powder, ¼ tsp red chilli powder, green chilli paste, and ½ tsp salt. Mix it well.
8. Add some water and cook for 1 min in medium flame.
9. Add 3 cups water. When boiling add fried Hilsa fishes.
10. Cover it for 10 min in medium flame.
11. After 10 min add wild celery paste and ¼ tsp salt. Mix it well.
12. Now cook in high flame for 3 to 5 min.
13. The recipe is ready.
14. Serve hot Ilish Begun with hot steamed rice.
