Mourala Macher Jhal – Grandma’s Style Bengali Small Fish Recipe Mourola Macher Jhal Chochchori

Here is Bengali special spicy delicious small fish recipe Mourala Macher Jhal. Learn step by step how to make Mourola macher jhal chochchori and make it your own at home.

Ingredients of Mourala macher jhal:
1. Mourala mach/ Indian carplet (200 gm).
2. Chopped onion (2 medium sizes).
3. Sliced tomato (2 medium sizes).
4. Turmeric powder (1 tsp).
5. Cumin powder (½ tsp).
6. Red chilli powder (½ tsp).
7. Black cumin seeds (½ tsp).
8. Slitted green chilli (4 no).
9. Chopped coriander leaves (½ cup).
10. Salt (as per your taste).
11. Garlic paste (2 tdp).
12. Mustard oil.

Methods of how to cook Mourala macher jhal:
1. First marinate the fishes with ¼ tsp turmeric powder, and ¼ tsp salt. Keep it for 5 min.
2. Add mustard oil in hot pan.
3. Fry the fishes gently. Keep aside.
4. Now put 4tbsp oil in pan. Add ½ tsp black cumin seeds. Fry it for 10 sec.
5. Add chopped onion. Fry it in medium flame.
6. Add 2 tsp garlic paste. Fry it for 1 min in medium flame.
7. Add ½ tsp cumin powder, ½ tsp turmeric powder, ¼ tsp red chilli powder, and green chillis. Mixed it very well.
8. Add ½ tsp salt and 2 tbsp of water. Now cook in high flame for 2 min.
9. Add sliced tomatoes and cook in medium flame for 1 min.
10. Add fried fishes. Fry it for 1 min in high flame.
11. Add ½ cup water. Add ½ cup chopped coriander leaves.
12. Close the lid for 5 min in low flame.
13. Your recipe is ready.
14. Serve hot morola macher jhal with hot steamed rice.
